1999 modern jive championships

If there is one event that you attend this year then it has to be this one. To be held at the Leicester Square Empire in London on Sunday the 2nd May, it promises to be the CEROC do of the year.

With the event starting at midday and finishing at midnight, it should attract the cream of the CEROC dancers from all over the UK. Some superb prizes will be up for grabs which include holidays to foreign climes.

Competitions will be held for all levels of dancers, from the beginners right up to the more advanced. There will also be some novelty sections, such as the team cabaret, in which teams of dancers create a theme with costumes, choreograph their own routine, and choose to dance to their own piece of music, in an attempt to try and impress the judges.

Yet another section will be the "lucky dip" in which nobody knows who they will be dancing with until the day of the event. You could be dancing with a complete stranger or your own regular partner, or even somebody that you know and always wished you'd had the courage to ask them to dance! They may be a good dancer or they may not be. It's just the luck of the draw.

Yet another area will be the video section where any couples can have their freestyle dancing filmed for prosperity.

Of course you don't have to enter the competitions if you don't want to. You can just spend all of your time in marvelling at the amazing dancing that will be going on.

The competitions will be interspersed with some freestyle sessions when you can grab a partner and just "boogie on down".

The evening will climax with demonstrations, the prize giving, and a freestyle event until midnight, to the spectacular sound and light show that only the Empires ambience can produce.

We are planning to take a minibus to this event from (12-00 till midnight) Please sign up as soon as possible on the door, or give Robin your details. The costs are still to be decided and will depend on numbers taken.

Please remember that you will need to fill in the form and apply for your own ticket yourself.

This is independent of the travel arrangements for the minibus.

ABSOLUTELY USELESS FACTS

If the 65,700 CEROCERS who attended the UK venues from July to September last year were laid end to end they wouldn't do much dancing!!
