Whose Crew! This Issue : Martin

This month we take an in depth look at Martin our ultra efficient doorman, of whom it has often been said, who? True to form he tends tofollow the lunatic fringe that seems to be prevalent in the Hatfield Crew. Martin lives in Stevenage, and was born in London. His star sign is Sagittarius, he works in Cambridge, with roads, and drives a Peugeot 306 Tdi (and also a 405 Gri, 1989, good runner, MOT till Nov. £1,000 ono. Cheers Mike!) (Ed:- Hey, I do the funny bits in the brackets!!) He is not married, doesn’t have any children and does have hobbies!

How when and where did you start Cerocing?
How? Very badly. When and where? Letchworth when the venue opened. I was dragged along by a CEROC teacher friend who claimed it was fun.

How often do you go to CEROC and to what venues?
Not as often as I used to due to a lack of free evenings.

How did you become involved with being on the desk?
I’ve always liked working with desks. With desks, you can put things on them and they don’t answer back. The one at Hatfield is also handy to sit behind to natter with Sara.

Most people see you as a form of tax man when they arrive as in you take their money & they may not see you again until the following week? Can you describe one of your typical evenings?
We arrive about 5 minutes before the first class, and set everything up. I try to leave all the heavy stuff to Robin and Lynn. Then I realise that all the important stuff in my box has been left at home. We’re very professional!

Do you have a favourite move?
Yes, it’s the single handed embezzler, a right hand to left pocket move where the money completely bypasses the cash box!

What are your favourite CEROC dance tracks?
There are a lot but I don’t know what many of them are called Lynn could probably tell you. I quite like that one by Eagle Eye Cherry, you know, er...

What type of music do you like?
Lots of different things, from classical right up to heavy rock Just as long as it is not Wishy-Washy. (Ed:- wasn’t he in Aladdin?)

And your favourite groups?
Er... Blondie, Corrs, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Nirvana, AC/DC, Bach - lots of stuff most other people don’t like much.

What hobbies do you have?
Guitar playing. I’ve got 5 plus a Mandolin (Ed:- I love those little oranges) badminton, even CEROC sometimes

How do you relax?
I find sleeping works well, but also a drink or two, an unrealistic action movie and seeing friends

Any ambitions?
Yes,- to NOT be a CEROC DJ. It’s too stressful, and, as we all know, makes you tense, irritable and a nightmare to work with. (Mike please clear this with shop steward Lynn before printing - I need to check my rights!!) (Ed:- No way! There is a very fine line between bravado and insanity and I think you just crossed it! The only right you need to watch is Lynn’s!)

Any advice for beginners?
Yes, don’t learn Cynthia’s pretzel variation. I’m the only one allowed to use it!
